The Be My Wife donghua series, commonly known as The Demonic King Chases His Wife (Chinese title: Xie Wang Zhui Qi) has three seasons so far (2019-2022) and is one of the three best-known rom-com donghua series (the remaining two being Psychic Princess and Cinderella Chef).
Be My Wife is an isekai title, meaning that the heroine (Su Luo) finds herself in another world. There she meets prince Jin who is seen as a tyrant by those who don’t know them. Needless to say, he isn’t one, but there certainly is more than meets the eye about him! For one thing, demon blood is coursing through his veins.
As the story progresses, we learn that there’s more than meets the eye about Su Luo, too. Having been teleported to Bi Luo Land as the useless Fourth Lady in the Su Residence, it eventually surfaces that she has special powers and a veil of mystery surrounding her.
It’s not before Xie Wang Zhui Qi Season 3 that we get to learn the specifics. More or less, the first two seasons revolve around a typical rom-com plot with a zest of magic and adventure.
