The No Doubt in Us donghua series, aslo known as Liang Bu Yi (两不疑) in China is a rom-com title based on the eponymous manhua by Lu Ye Qian He and You Zhi Jiaozi.
The plot is set in ancient China and follows Emperor Xiao Jinyun and Empress Xu Yu who simply don’t get along.
One day, a Freaky Friday twist occurs and the two thereupon find themselves in each other’s body. Needless to say, Emperor and Empress need to start cooperating by necessity. As the story progresses, their relationship eventually starts improving.
Liang Bu Yi has two seasons, with No Doubt in Us Season 2 having finished broadcasting just recently. The series was produced by BiliBili and Paper Plane Animation Studio.
No Doubt in Us also has a 24-episode drama adaptation titled The Trust (MangoTV’s Original Drama), which stars Song Yan Fei and Zhang Hao Wei as Empress Xu Yu and Emperor Xiao Jinyun, respectively.
My Drama List provides the following synopsis (the same applies to the donghua series, as both are based on the same manhua):
“Born the daughter of a great general, Xu Yu was raised with a sword in her hand. Training from a very young age, Xu Yu is as adept with a bow as she is with a sword and her skill as a horseman rivals that of her father’s men. A skilled warrior, Xu Yu never once entertained the idea of any other path. In order to save her struggling family, Xu Yu agrees to marry Emperor Xiao Jin Yun. As different from Xu Yu as night and day, Jin Yun prefers books to battles. Knowing from the beginning they will never get along, the newlyweds prefer to spend their days as far from each other as possible. Though their meetings are few, they’re often memorable, none more so than a meeting by the pool that changes both of their lives in an instant. Falling into the pool together, the emperor and empress are horrified to discover that they have somehow managed to swap souls. Trapped in each other’s bodies, it doesn’t take long for Xu Yu and Jin Yun to realize that neither leads as charmed a life as each had believed. Will living in each other’s shoes allow them to heal the breach between them or only serve to make things worse?”
