Heaven Official’s Blessing is a beautifully animated danmei (BL) donghua series based on the eponymous novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (MXTX). It’s in a league of its own: the slow-paced, tranquil plot development makes it rather enjoyable for wide audiences.
Known as Tian Guan Ci Fu (天官赐福) in China, MXTX’s masterpiece differs greatly from her better-known novel The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (Mo Dao Zu Shi) in that it doesn’t feature any explicit extra chapters. The focus is entirely on romance and we may as well enjoy it.

As customary for Chinese animation and art in general, the series is a treat to all senses with multiple art styles blending seamlessly, including Quanzhou lacquer line carving.
The plot follows Crown Prince Xie Lian and ghost king Hua Cheng, focusing on their developing romance.

Seven Seas Danmei has also licensed the remaining two titles by MXTX: The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (魔道祖, Mo Dao Zu Shi) and The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System (人渣反派自救系统, Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong).
